Do old fashions come back again?

July 1st, 2009

The idea of fashion is for a woman to be able to enjoy wearing nice clothes and ones that are original and new in their design because she often tires of wearing the same things especially when she sees new trends on the catwalk as she also wants to be seen wearing the ‘in’ type of clothes.

Designers are there to keep on producing new ideas all the time so as to entice the woman to buy again, if they didn’t do this she might remain happy with what she already had because ‘what you don’t see, you don’t miss’.

But there comes a limit to how many new ideas can be conjured up to make an original outfit and so yes, the old fashions do come back again. Designers are always looking into old history books on fashion to see whether they can get inspired by something that the women were wearing in let’s say the fourteenth century. The find something that they like and then give it a twentieth century touch to it and a new design has been invented.

To see this more clearly nowadays is to think back to the first ever launch of the mini skirt which was in the late sixties and to remember that since then it has been brought back on more than one occasion, although admittedly having had a subtle change made to it each time.

Thigh boots also came onto the fashion scene quite some years back to when ‘hot pants’ were in fashion but now they too have made a come back this year.

So some women who never throw anything away and just store all their old clothes up in an attic or trunk have the advantage that when something is brought back into fashion again, they probably still have an example of it.
